Bourtzi is a tiny peninsula or ithsmus which divides Skiathos port into two distinct halves. Bourtzi used to be a fort, built by the Gizi brothers who ruled Skiathos back in the 13th Century. Bourtzi was defended by impregnable walls with two towers located on the left and right of the main gate.
